Anderson Repeats as BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week

Anderson leads the conference in the 200 and 400 meters this season
QUEENS, N.Y. (Jan 29, 2020) – Leah Anderson has been named a repeat winner of the BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week award, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office.
Anderson captured a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge this past weekend with a time of 54.53. The mark ranks no. 28 in the nation and puts Anderson atop the BIG EAST leaderboard.
The junior sprinter followed that performance by recording a time of 24.23 in the 200 meters, ranking 59th in the country and first in the conference.
This marks Anderson's first time running in both events since the start of St. John's 2020 campaign. The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native leads the Red Storm in the 60 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and 800 meters this season.
The Johnnies return to action when the team travels to Fordham on Thursday for day one of the Metropolitan Championships before wrapping up the meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on Friday. Thursday's start time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
