Leilani Correa records 32 points in Red Storm victory
Behind a 32-point performance from Leilani Correa, the St. John's women's basketball team defeated Seton Hall, 77-76, in the final seconds of Saturday's contest to complete the season sweep of the Pirates.
With 10 seconds left on the clock and Seton Hall leading by one, 76-75, the visiting team saw its inbound pass tipped by Kadaja Bailey and into the hands of Tiana England, who came up with the steal. Then in a scrum on the floor, England tossed the ball back to Bailey, who was fouled. With the game on the line for the Red Storm, the Long Beach, N.Y., native converted on both of her attempts from the charity stripe to seal the victory for the Johnnies.
With 32 points on the afternoon, Correa finished just one shy of her season-high 33. The rookie from Manchester, N.J., netted 19 of her 32 points in the third quarter alone. In addition to her scoring ability, Correa was a force on defense grabbing six boards and three steals in the Johnnies' victory.
Correa has now finished with 30 or more points on three different occasions, becoming just the second player in program history to do so and the first since Tawana Jackson in 1995. Correa is also the first Johnnie to eclipse 30 points in a conference contest since Jade Walker fired off 32 against Marquette on Jan. 8, 2017.
England lit up the stat sheet for St. John's, turning in her second double-double of the season and the third of her Red Storm career. The redshirt junior netted 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor. The Stamford, Conn., native also dished out a team-high 10 assists to go along with five rebounds in 40 minutes of action.

Raven Farley led the way for St. John's on the glass, pulling down a squad-leading seven boards.
