Bianchi and Abinanti added run-scoring plays later in the frame to give the Red Storm an early 4-0 lead.
Iona cut into the lead with two runs in the top of the third before the Johnnies got one back in the home half of frame. Henshaw tallied his third RBI of the day with a sac fly to score Antico, who singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third.
In the bottom of the fourth, Lazzaro walked, stole second and stole third before coming home on a Higgins single to right, putting the Johnnies ahead, 6-2.
Glancy singled and Henshaw walked to lead off the fifth before both advanced on a passed ball and came home on a McGeehan base knock up the middle.
After going scoreless in both the sixth and the seventh innings, Iona and St. John's both added single runs in the eighth to make it a 9-3 ball game heading into the ninth. Folz brought home the Red Storm run with an RBI single.
