St. John’s Ventures to Marquette on Wednesday Afternoon

The Red Storm and Golden Eagles will face off at 1 p.m. ET
QUEENS, N.Y. (April 13, 2021) – Following its loss at Providence on Saturday, the St. John's lacrosse team will travel to Milwaukee this Wednesday to take on Marquette at 1 p.m. ET
The contest between the Red Storm (1-6, 0-6 BIG EAST) and the Golden Eagles (1-7, 0-6 BIG EAST) will be broadcast live on Golden Eagles All-Access with Patrick Reed and Cole Blazer on the call.
St. John's will face its quickest turnaround of the season after falling to Providence, 19-9, on Saturday Night at Chapey Field. Mackenzie Iacocca, Mike Madsen and Joe Madsen led the Red Storm offense in the setback, collecting two two goals apiece against the Friars.
Attackman Jonathan Huber scored for fourth straight game and the 11th time overall this season, tying him for the team lead in that category. Sophomore Connor Kalmus extended his scoring streak to three games while Ryan Schaeffer added another tally for the Johnnies.
The Red Storm currently ranks first in the BIG EAST with 15.2 saves per game and third in the conference with 7.8 caused turnovers per contest.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 10-8 loss against No.10/10 Georgetown on Saturday. Marquette's offense was led by a career-high six goals from redshirt freshman Devon Cowan while Jake Stegman and Griffin Fleming each added one. Marquette's lone win of the season came on March 27 against Cleveland State, as Fleming, a redshirt junior from Bryn Mawr, Pa., scored four times in a 10-5 victory.
The Golden Eagles' offense has been led by Fleming and Cowan, both of whom rank inside the top-10 for goals per game in the conference. Cowan, a native of Mount Laurel, N.J., leads the team with 20 goals and has scored in 13 of his 15 colligate games. He was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after knotting four goals and six points against Villanova on February 27. Fleming also earned the Conference's Weekly Honor Roll after scoring a career-high four goals in the Golden Eagles' win against Cleveland State.
Redshirt freshman Mason Woodward is the anchor to Marquette's defense, as he ranks fourth in the conference with 5.1 ground balls per game. The Towson, Md., native has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll twice this season.
