Anderson, Christogeorgou to Compete in NCAA East Preliminaries

Anderson will take part in the 200 meters and 400 meters while Christogeorgou competes in the high jump
QUEENS, N.Y. (May 25, 2021) – Leah Anderson and Eleftheria Christogeorgou will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Outdoor Championships at the University of North Florida.
The four-day meet will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday and will be available to live stream on team1sports.com. Live coverage will also be available on ncaa.com.
This will be Anderson's second time competing at the NCAA East Preliminary. In 2019, the Mount Vernon, N.Y., native placed 28th in the 400-meter sprint. Anderson also finished with the eighth-best mark in the 200-meter sprint, ranking 42nd among all competitors.
The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native will take part in the women's 400 meters on Thursday at 7:25 p.m. She will also kick off the 200-meter dash at 8:45 p.m.
The senior sprinter qualified for the NCAA preliminaries on April 23 at the Army Twilight Meet with a time of 52.95. The mark currently ranks 47th on the NCAA Top-100 performance list.
Anderson captured the gold medal in the 200 meters at the 2021 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships with a qualifying mark of 23.36, placing 67th in the nation.
Christogeorgou will represent the Red Storm in the high jump on Saturday at 1 p.m. The senior qualified for the NCAA Championships after clearing 1.78 meters in the high jump at the West Point Twilight Meet on May 6. Her mark currently ranks 44th overall on the NCAA Top-100 performance list. As a result of her effort in St. John's final regular season meet, Christogeorgou was named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week.
The Johnnies will begin competition on Thursday with Anderson in the 400 meters. The race is scheduled to fall underway at 7:25 p.m.
