St. John’s Hosts Creighton for Friday Matinee

The Red Storm will battle the Bluejays at Carnesecca Arena on Friday
QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak to four as the team hosts Creighton at Carnesecca Arena on Friday afternoon.
Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Matt Ambrose and Mike Watts on the call.
The Red Storm enters the weekend at 10-15 overall and 6-9 in BIG EAST play, having won four of the last five games. The Johnnies have also won two of their last three games by a margin of victory of 26.7 points.
During the last outing, St. John's topped Georgetown, 79-45, to complete the season sweep of the Hoyas. The Red Storm dished out 22 assists on 28 made baskets. The Johnnies doubled up the Hoyas on the boards, outrebounding the opposition, 52-26, for the most rebounds by the team since recording 56 against Delaware State during the 2018-19 campaign.
Individually, four Red Storm players finished in double figures led by Danielle Patterson with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and a pair of 3-pointers. Unique Drake tallied 12 points and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Leilani Correa and Rayven Peeples chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively, to close out the Johnnies' double-figure scorers.
As a team, the Johnnies rank second in the league and 27th nationally in scoring offense, averaging 74.6 points per game. St. John's sits third in the conference and 19th in the country with 207 3-pointers made this season.
Creighton comes to Queens with an 18-7 overall record and a 13-4 mark in conference play. The Bluejays are coming off a 96-49 victory over Butler where they hit a school and BIG EAST record 22 3-pointers. Lauren Jensen sank seven shots from beyond the arc while Morgan Maly tallied six during the win.
This season, Creighton's 9.9 triples per game ranks third nationally and first in the conference while the squads 248 3-pointers made puts the team fourth nationally while also pacing the BIG EAST. The team is also the nation's leader in assists per game (20.4) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.56).
Three Bluejay players average double figures this season with Emma Ronsiek leading the way with 14.3 per game. Jensen posts 12.3 points, having started every game for Creighton while Maly comes off the bench and averages 11.8 points per appearance.
While the Johnnies hold the 12-10 edge in the all-time series, Creighton came away with the 86-80 victory during the first meeting between the teams this season. Correa tallied an impressive 28 points on 11-for-19 shooting including four makes from beyond the arc. For the Bluejays, Ronsiek led all players with 30 points. The Creighton bench logged 22 points and the team held a 23-4 advantage in second-chance points.
