San Francisco Clinches Series Win Over St. John’s

Shabestari slugs first career home run
In his first career start, Max Shabestari tied for the team lead in hits with two, a double and a home run. His solo shot in the ninth marked the third home run of the season for the Johnnies.
Nick Cirelli also recorded a multi-hit performance. The first baseman went 2-for-3 with an RBI, his fifth of the season to tie for the most on the Red Storm.
Outfielder David Glancy reached base in four out of five plate appearances, tallying one base hit and three walks.
Ben Adams was tagged with the loss in his third start of the season for the Red Storm (1-10).
The Johnnies opened the scoring in the top of the first. Glancy led off the frame with a single. Two batters later, Cirelli singled to center to plate the opening run of Saturday's contest.
The Dons (8-4) responded immediately in the next half-inning with five runs of their own. After a bases loaded single by Mario Demera, Harris Williams III launched a grand slam to give San Francisco a 5-1 lead after the first.
After a scoreless second, USF added another tally off a Gabe Giosso double to center to extend the advantage to 6-1 in the third.
The Dons put up four more runs in the home half of the fifth and three in the bottom half of the seventh to pull away from St. John's, 13-1.
Shabestari would add a run in the top of the ninth on a solo home run to cut into the deficit. The Dons closed it out to secure the 13-2 win and series victory over the Red Storm.
St. John's and San Francisco will conclude the four-game set tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET.
