No. 25 Connecticut Takes Sunday Finale from St. John’s

STORRS, Conn.- Early runs proved costly as the St. John's baseball team dropped the series finale to No. 25 Connecticut, 10-0, at Elliot Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.
David Glancy and Chris Conniff each logged a hit against the Huskies (24-7, 3-0). Glancy has now recorded a base knock in three straight starts.
Three different Johnnies tallied a walk as Jackson Tucker, Kevin Michaels and Jermaine White each drew a free pass.
UConn's Enzo Stefanoni picked up the win, tossing seven shutout innings with two punchouts.
Sonny Fauci was tagged with the loss for St. John's (11-21, 0-3).
For the third straight game, Erik Stock got the Huskies on the board first in the opening inning with an RBI groundout to the shortstop to give Connecticut an early 1-0 lead.
UConn opened the game up in the bottom of the second with five runs to expand the advantage to 6-0. Bryan Padilla drew a bases-loaded walk before Stock launched a grand slam to right to give the Huskies a six-run cushion.
Connecticut added two more runs in the home half of the third to lead 8-0. Ben Huber scampered home from third on a wild pitch before Korey Morton roped a single to right to plate Matt Donlan.
After a scoreless fourth, the Huskies tacked on one more in the fifth courtesy of another RBI single from Morton to expand the lead, 9-0.
A frame later, Stock scored on another wild pitch to grow the UConn advantage to 10-0 in the sixth.
Stefanoni, Devin Kirby, Bobby McBride and Garrett Coe combined to secure the final nine outs to give Connecticut the series sweep and improve the record to 3-0 in BIG EAST play.
The Red Storm will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when it makes the short trip to Hempstead, N.Y., to wrap up the home-and-home midweek series with the Hofstra Pride. First pitch from University Field is set for 3 p.m.
