St. John’s to Close Homestand against Iona on Wednesday

Red Storm and Gaels to meet for the first time in two years
QUEENS, N.Y.- After taking two out of three from Butler over the weekend, the St. John's baseball team will conclude an eight-game homestand when it welcomes in Iona for a midweek contest. First on Wednesday afternoon from Jack Kaiser Stadium is set for 3 p.m. ET.

David Glancy hit .438 in four games and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday by the conference office. The redshirt sophomore hit a game-tying solo home run in Saturday's walk-off win over Butler, bringing his season total to a team-high nine. The Neptune, N.J., native paces the Red Storm with 38 runs scored and ranks second on the squad in slugging percentage (.554), on-base percentage (.408) and RBIs (34). The everyday outfielder owns the longest active on-base streak, reaching safely in 11 straight starts.
The Johnnies' leader at the plate, Kevin Michaels continues to produce with a bat in his hands, pacing the Red Storm in batting average (.338) and RBIs (37). The Encinitas, Calif., native ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in RBIs per game, producing 1.03 runs per contest. The redshirt sophomore also boasts a team-high 11 multi-RBI games. Michaels hit two doubles last week to tie for the team lead with 11 two-base hits.
Sitting close behind Michaels in batting average, Tate Ballestero is batting a solid .333 while starting all 40 games for the Johnnies this season. Ballestero is tied with Glancy for the team lead in hits with 51 base hits, including 15 extra-base hits. The Morristown, N.J., native hit his eleventh double at the most opportune time in Sunday's 12-12 tie with Butler, launching a ball off the billboard in right to give the Johnnies a late lead in the back-and-forth affair. Ballestero leads all batters with a .419 on-base percentage, drawing 21 walks this season.
Paul Orbon is swinging a hot bat for the Red Storm, hitting .400 in four starts last week. The New Hyde Park, N.Y., native tallied three doubles, three RBIs and six runs scored in four starts against Fairleigh Dickinson and Butler. Orbon is one of four active players with a season average of .300 or better, batting at a .346 clip in 17 games.
Jackson Tucker has been a crucial piece in the Red Storm's three wins last week, batting .462 and reaching base at a .556 clip in four starts. The freshman outfielder added two steals to bring his team-leading season total to 13.
Ben Adams will get the ball on Wednesday, his fourth start of the season and first since March 5 against San Francisco. The sophomore lefthander has allowed two earned runs of fewer in each of his last five appearances.
Iona travels to Queens with a record of 3-31 and a conference record of 3-12. The Gaels won their most recent series, taking two out of three from conference foe Quinnipiac in New Rochelle, N.Y.
