Six Johnnies Named to All-BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Team

Five Red Storm sprinters and one thrower earn all-conference honors
QUEENS, N.Y.- After successful two days at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, six members of the St. John's women's track and field team earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST team, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

The Red Storm tied for second in the BIG EAST with 15 all-conference honors. Four of the five student-athletes earned distinction for multiple events as a part of 30 BIG EAST athletes to be named to the all-conference team two or more times.

Leah Anderson and Tatyana McKenzie led all BIG EAST track and field athletes with four distinctions each. Anderson won all four of the events she competed in (200m, 400m, 4x100 and 4x400) to be named BIG EAST Most Outstanding Track Performer and the high-point performer of the conference championships for the third consecutive season. McKenzie had a very successful meet in her own right, joining Anderson on the victorious 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams and collecting an individual win in the 100-meter dash. McKenzie also grabbed a silver medal in the 200m.

Skyy Diop earned three All-BIG EAST honors for her efforts in the Red Storm's two sprint relay wins and her bronze medal in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 53.56. Brooklyn Chestnut finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.10 and was a part of the 4x100-meter relay team to earn two all-conference distinctions. Mandana Vouillemin was named to the All-BIG EAST team for her part in the Red Storm's victory in the 4x400-meter relay.

Rounding out the St. John's honorees is Esmeralda Reyes, who secured a bronze medal in the javelin throw with a toss of 43.03 meters to be named among the best in the conference.
