St. John’s Competes at Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge

Red Storm logged six top-10 finishes over two days at The Armory
NEW YORK- The St. John's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge at The Armory on Saturday.
Over two days, the Red Storm grabbed six top-10 results against some of the best collegiate and professional track athletes in the country.
Brooklyn Chestnut grabbed eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.63. The Indianapolis native has finished inside the top 10 in each of the three 60-meter races she has competed in this season. The Johnnies had a strong showing in the 200-meter dash as Tatyana McKenzie and Delicia Bent each finished within the top 15, logging times of 24.90 and 25.10, respectively.
In the 400-meter dash, Nora Haugen continued her strong indoor campaign with a 10th-place finish, crossing the line at 57.01. Chinenye Onuorah and Nia Holden registered times of 58.06 and 59.22, respectively. The 4x400 quartet of Haugen, McKenzie, Onuorah and Quitterie Dujardin grabbed seventh with a time of 3:49.37.
Claire Cushing set a new personal best in the mile run with a time of 4:56.08, surpassing her previous best time by more than eight seconds and securing seventh. Ezgi Yasar made a solid impression in her collegiate debut in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.80. The distance medley relay team of Cushing, Dujardin, Holden and Yasar finished sixth with a time of 12:05.86.
The Red Storm will be back in action on Friday when it returns to Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex to take part in the prestigious Metropolitan Championships.
