Men’s Tennis Falls at Cornell, 5-2

The Red Storm will play next Friday at Lehigh
QUEENS, N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2023)- The St. John's men's tennis team will hit the road for an away contest on Sunday against Cornell at Reis Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
The Red Storm (2-1) took one of three doubles matches to surrender the point to the Big Red. The top tandem of Axel Vila Antuna and Diogo Marques defeated Jack McCarthy/Vladislav Melnic, 6-4.
The Johnnies were unable to overcome the deficit in singles play, only winning the the no.5 and no. 6 slot. Anton Stendal crusied past Aman Sharma, 6-2, 6-3. In the no. 6 slot, Sergio Molina edged No. 116 McCarthy 7-6 (5), 6-4. Vila Antuna and Carl Gustafsson both forced three sets, but were ultimately unable to secure the win.
After three matches in four days, the Johnnies will have a lighter load this week. St. John's will play its lone match of the week next Friday at Lehigh in the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.
