Women’s Tennis Puts Up Strong Performance at UB Invite

Red Storm picks up 17 wins in its final competition of the fall
The St. John's women's tennis team had a successful weekend at the UB Invite, picking up 17 wins across three days of competition in Western New York.
In its final competition of the fall season, the Red Strom found success early, winning seven of its nine matches on Friday. Freshman Noemi Babikova and transfer Alicia Gomez paired up on the doubles court to take down the University of Buffalo's Deanne Choo and Mariana Carvajal Torres. Mouna Bouzgarrou and Arina Gumerova earned a victory in doubles play as well. Babikova, Bouzgarrou, Gomez, Gumerova and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde all picked up singles wins on Friday.
Bouzgarrou and Gumerova continued their success on the doubles court Saturday, taking down Delaware's Samantha Svendsen and Alina Vasilenko. Babikova and Gómez also won for the second consecutive day. Babikova, Gomez, Gumerova and Sartz-Lunde and all were victorious on Saturday in singles play.
Sunday brought more of the same for the squad from Queens. Babikova and Gumerova completed their perfect weekend in doubles play, this time besting Jaida Borg and Coral Rodriguez from Niagara. Both athletes, along with Sartz-Lunde, won their third singles match of the weekend on Sunday. The full results from the weekend are below.
The UB Invite marked the close of the Red Storm's fall 2023 schedule. The spring season is set to kick off in January.
