Men’s Tennis Sweeps Hofstra, 6-0

The Red Storm extends its win streak to six matches
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 15, 2023) – St. John's men's tennis team will continue the young season with a midweek match at Hofstra on Wednesday afternoon at Set Point Oceanside. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
With the win, the Johnnies have won six-straight contests and improve to 8-1 on the season.
In doubles play, the Red Storm won a pair of matches to earn the first point of the match. Two Johnnies won two matches on the day.
The pairing of Giuseppe De Camelis and Anton Stendal defeated Matthew Garcia and Vincent Turina, 7-6 (7-2). Stendal would win his second match of the day with a singles victory against Jonathan Mahrt Gayou, 6-1, 6-3. The tandem of Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves won their fourth match of the season in dominating fashion against Kaita Odani and Ryan Lyn, 6-1. Kaneda would win his second match of the day not allowing Ryan Lyn to win a game against him, 6-0, 6-0.
Sergio Molina improved his perfect singles record to 7-0 with a win against Ostop Kovalenko, 6-1, 6-4. Nishant Dabas also earned his seventh win of the season defeating Vincent Turina, 3-6, 6-2, 10-1 to improve his record to 7-1.
St. John's will be back in action with a home match against Boston U. on Saturday night at USTA. Doubles play is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
