Men’s Tennis Drops to No. 46 Penn State, 5-2

The Red Storm will conclude the weekend against Old Dominion
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 22, 2023) – The St. John's men's tennis team fell to No. 46 Penn State, 6-1, on Wednesday evening at Sarni Tennis Center.
The Red Storm (9-2) snapped its seven-match winning streak.
All three doubles matches were decided by a score of 6-4. For the second time in the last three matches, the Johnnies dropped the doubles point. The tandem of Giuseppe De Camelis and Sergio Molina won the first match of the day, despite the Johnnies losing two of three doubles matches. The duo topped Malik Bhatnagar and Charl Morgan, 6-4.
Two Johnnies won their singles match against the Nittany Lions. Adam Groves defeated Pranav Nemani in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. In the No. 4 slot, Nishant Dabas improved to 8-1 on the season in a three set victory against Malik Bhatnagar, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Ryota Kaneda fell to Stefan Simeunovic in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 8-10.
St. John's will close the weekend at Old Dominion on Sunday. Doubles play is scheduled to start at 11 a.m., and the match will be held at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
