St. John’s Wraps Up Florida Trip at Hurricane Collegiate Invitational

Red Storm logs 18 top-10 finishes on Saturday
MIAMI- The St. John's track and field team concluded its two-meet swing in Florida at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational at Cobb Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Storm enjoyed a strong performance on the track and in the field, posting 18 top-10 finishes across 14 events.
In the 100-meter dash, Delicia Bent led the way for the Johnnies, finishing fifth with a time of 11.88. Brooklyn Chesnut grabbed eighth place with a mark of 12.12, and Tea Siehou posted a 14th-place result, crossing the line at 12.30.
Tatyana McKenzie continued her excellent start to the outdoor season in the 200-meter race, capturing third place with a time of 23.52. In the 400-meter dash, it was McKenzie who paced the Red Storm once again, posting a strong time of 54.51 to finish fourth. Chinenye Onuorah and Nora Haugen finished 10th and 12th with marks of 56.11 and 56.51, respectively.
Nia Holden secured another top-10 finish for St. John's in the 800-meter run, securing sixth place with a time of 2:14.61. Claire Cushing made her season debut in the 1,500-meter race, registering a time of 4:34.94 good for sixth overall. The freshman tandem of Ana Markovina and Ezgi Yasar logged marks of 5:03.41 and 5:10.08, respectively, to grab top-10 results.
The Red Storm dominated the 400-meter hurdles as Zamira Ysaac, Quitterie Dujardin and Mandana Vouillemin finished second, third and fifth, respectively. All three posted times faster than the 1:05 mark. The 4x100-meter relay team of Bent, Chestnut, McKenzie and Siehou posted a second-place result with a time of 46.11.
In the field events, Ioanna Kyprianou secured a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.93 meters. Jamora Alves had a solid day, finishing third in the discus throw and fourth in the shot put toss.
The Red Storm will return to action on April 1 when they host The Big Hurt at DaSilva Memorial Field.
