Red Storm set to compete in Florida for the second straight week
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's track and field team will return to Florida to compete in the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami, on Saturday.
Tatyana McKenzie holds the top marks in the BIG EAST in the 100 and 200 meters at 11.81 and 23.67, respectively. Chinenye Onuorah owns the fastest time in the conference in the 400-meter dash, logging a time of 56.20 at the USF Invitational last Saturday.
Zamira Ysaac will look to build on her solid start to the season in the hurdles. Ysaac holds the top times in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles, registering marks of 15.23 and 1:05.57. Claire Cushing boasts the top time in the 5,000-meter run at 17:15.27. Cushing will make her outdoor season debut in the 1,500-meter run.
In the field events, Samantha Morillo-Martinez leads the conference in the shot put toss with a mark of 14.33 meters. Jamora Alves ranks second in the BIG EAST in both the shot put and discus throws.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Delicia Bent, Brooklyn Chestnut, McKenzie and Tea Siehou own the best mark in the conference at 46.11, and they will look to continue their solid start to the season on Saturday.
