Men’s Tennis Completes Weekend with 5-2 Win at Brown

The Red Storm will play of trio of matches next week starting with Villanova on Wednesday
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The St. John's men's tennis team rallied past Brown, 5-2 after dropping the first point of the match on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Storm are off to a 13-4 start for the second consecutive season.
For just the fifth time this season, the Johnnies dropped the doubles point. The Bears clinched the point after winning the first two matches, and leaving the third unfinished. Adam Groves and Ryota Kaneda dropped to Zander Bravo and Sam Feldman, 6-1. The tandem of Nishant Dabas and Carl Gustafsson also fell dropping a 6-3 decision to Niraj Kometineni and Matthew Mu.
In singles play, the Johnnies grabbed five of the six wins to win the match. At the top spot, Diogo Marques notched his sixth win of the year in three sets, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-1 over Kometineni. Gustafsson also needed three sets to pick up his 10th victory of the season. After dropping the first set, 2-6, he picked up a pair of wins, 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the victory. Three Johnnies picked up wins in straight-sets including Nishant Dabas. Dabas notched his 10th win of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Mu. Groves notched a 6-3, 6-2 win over Bravo. Kaneda knocked off Feldman, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.
St. John's will be busy next week with a trio of matches. The Johnnies will start the week hosting Villanova on Wednesday. Over the weekend, the Red Storm will travel to Yale on Friday before hosting St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday.
