Red Storm Hosts Fordham in Midweek Tilt

The Red Storm will host Villanova in a crucial three-game series this weekend
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's softball team will host Fordham on Wednesday at Red Storm Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the second meeting of the season between the two programs.
The Red Storm has been unable to push the needle in each of their last two BIG EAST series. The Johnnies return to Queens after playing six of their last seven contests on the road.
London Jarrard has been the Queen of Doubles this season, and ranks seventh in the nation with 14 total doubles and third in doubles per game (.44).
Sophomore Jarrard is establishing herself as a top player not only in the BIG EAST but nationally, as well. The Carlsbad, Calif. native ranks in the top 50 in seven categories nationally, and in the top four of the conference in eight statistical categories.
Anese Thompson has been on fire lately reaching base in 12 straight games dating back to March 22 against Stony Brook. During the streak she is hitting .478 with a .676 on-base percentage. She has knocked 11 hits, and drawn 14 walks, while driving in six Johnnies.
Bob Guerriero is in his fifth year as head coach of the St. John's Softball team and is assisted by Grace Kramer and Marissa Rizzi. Kramer, a 2017 St. John's graduate, is in her fourth season as an assistant coach while Rizzi, a 2020 graduate, is in her second season as a coach as a part of the Red Storm program.
Fordham notched a 2-1 Wednesday victory against Hofstra last week before dropping two of three over the weekend at Rhode Island. Fordham won 10-0 in six innings before a pair of 3-0, 6-5 Rhode Island wins on Saturday.
Neleh Nogay tops the Rams leading the team hitting .395 and with a .432 on-base percentage. Sydney Wells and Eva Koratsis tie for the team lead with 16 RBIs and four homers. Korastsis bests the team with a .455 slugging percentage. In the circle, Holly Beeman leads the staff touting six victories, 42 punch-outs, eight complete games, and allowing hitters to hit just .214 against her.
Earlier this season, the Red Storm toppled the Rams 9-0 in five innings. The win improved St. John's to a 16-11 record against Fordham in the all-time series. St. John's is 7-3 at home and 2-3 at Red Storm Field against the Rams.
This weekend, St. John's will host conference foe Villanova for a chance to solidify their ranking in the BIG EAST. The three-game series will open on Friday at 1 p.m. with noon starts on Saturday and Sunday.
