Men’s Tennis Wins Penultimate Match of the Season at Monmouth, 4-2

The Red Storm will conclude its regular season slate at home against Fordham on Sunday
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The St. John's men's tennis team knocked off Monmouth, 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Outdoor Tennis Complex in the Red Storm's penultimate match of the regular season spring slate.
The Red Storm notched their 16th victory of the season, improving to 16-5.
The Johnnies secured the first point of the match winning two out of the three doubles matches. The top pairing of Diogo Marques and Axel Vila Antuna knocked off the Hawks top tandem of Niels Van Noord and Dmitry Bezborodov, 7-5. The point-clinching doubles victory came from Sergio Molina and Giuseppe De Camelis. The duo fought hard in the final match of doubles play pulling out a 7-6 (7-3) victory against Christof Zeiler and Arthur Dussabut.
In singles play, three Johnnies won their second match of the day of the five finished matches. Molina won his team-leading 14th match of the season, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 4 court against Alexander Zuckerman. In the top slot, Marques won his team-best seventh straight match with a straight-set defeat of Van Noord, 6-3, 6-3. De Camelis registered his second win of the day with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-2, win over Zeiler.
St. John's will conclude the regular season portion of its schedule on Sunday with a home match against Fordham. The match is scheduled to be held at the Courts at St. John's with doubles play starting at 1 p.m. Before the match, a "Senior Day" presentation will be held to recognize the three seniors graduating the program.
