St, John’s Travels to Seton Hall for Monday Night Contest on FS1

The Red Storm hold a 5-2 mark in BIG EAST play
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's basketball team will take the short trip across the Hudson River to face Seton Hall on Monday night on FS1.
The national telecast will begin at 6:30 p.m. with John Fanta and Kim Adams on the call from Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J.
The Red Storm moved to 5-2 in conference play after dominating the second half at home against Butler, 60-42. The Johnnies held a league opponent to just 42 points for the second time in three games. The Bulldogs added just 16 points in the second half and were held scoreless for 7:44 in the final quarter. Butler finished with zero second chance points.
St. John's was led by a balanced scoring attack and shot a season-high 52.1 percent from the floor. The Red Storm also logged a season-best with 38 points in the paint and shot 58.3 percent from two-point range.
Three players- Ber'Nyah Mayo, Jailah Donald and Jillian Archer finished in double figures and all seven players that played over a minute scored five points or more.
Mayo has finished in double-figures in each of her last three contests. The point guard has scored 10 or more points in nine games this season and leads the team with 3.4 assists per game.
Archer led all players in the rebounding department with seven boards against the Bulldogs. The graduate student post presence leads the team with 7.1 boards per game, which ranks top-10 in the BIG EAST and has pulled down seven or more in 11 of the Johnnies 19 games. The Santa Monica, Calif., native ranks second on the team averaging 10.7 points per game and boasts a team-high five double-doubles.
The two schools separated by 24 miles will meet for the 88th time on Monday night. St. John's leads the all-time series, 50-37. Seton Hall has held the edge in recent history winning five of the last six meetings between the two programs. The Red Storm are seeking its first win at Walsh Gymnasium since Jan. 26, 2020 and to advance to 6-2 in conference play for the first time since 2015-16, when the Johnnies went on to win the BIG EAST Tournament Championship.

The Pirates in their last contest led No. 9 UConn after the first quarter and hung tight with the Huskies before being outscored 22-8 in the fourth quarter and ultimately falling, 83-59.
On the year, Seton Hall is 10-1 in games where it scores more than 61 points. Both squads rank top-3 in the league in scoring defense both allowing just under 56 points per game.
Azana Baines (15.5 PPG) and Texas Southern transfer Micah Gray (13.3) PPG lead the Pirates offensively. Amari Wright is atop the BIG EAST in assists with 6.3 per game and sits fourth in steals with 2.4 per outing.
After Monday's tilt, St. John's will look towards its second road game in four days when it faces DePaul on Thursday night in Chicago at 8 p.m. ET.
