Red Storm will take on Marist on Thursday and Dartmouth on Saturday
After winning three of its first four matches to begin dual-match play in 2024, the St. John's men's tennis team will play two contests in a three-day span. The Red Storm will take on Marist on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center before traveling to Hannover, N.H. on Saturday to face Dartmouth at 11 a.m.
"We are looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Cornell with the next two matches," said Head Coach Dillon Pottish. "We learned a lot as a team and are ready to get back to competing Thursday."
The Red Storm and Red Foxes have previously met on seven occasions, resulting in six wins for St. John's. When the two programs met last season, the Johnnies walked away with a 4-0 victory on Feb. 12, 2023. Reigning BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Carl Gustavsson and Ryota Kaneda picked up wins in the victory. The Red Storm have won five straight contests over Marist.
The Red Foxes enter tomorrow's contest 0-1 on the season after getting swept by NJIT last Friday, 7-0.
St. John's and Dartmouth have faced off 10 times. In the most recent meeting in 2023, the Big Green came out on top, 4-2. Gustavsson earned the Johnnies a point in the contest, picking up a straight sets win on the No. 2 singles court.
Dartmouth has not lost a match this season, winning all four of its previous contests, highlighted by a 4-2 win over Indiana last Friday. Prior to Saturday's matchup with the Johnnies, the Big Green will host Purdue at the Boss Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
St. John's won its first three matches of the season over Bryant, Quinnipiac and LIU before dropping its first road contest of the season on Sunday against Cornell.
