The Red Storm won 25 matches over the weekend in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA – The St. John's men's tennis team concluded its fall slate this weekend at the Dragon Invitational on Drexel's campus.
The Red Storm won 25 total matches over three days of competition in Philadelphia against athletes from NJIT, Temple and Delaware. The 25 victories match the Johnnies' total from when they opened their fall slate at the Hofstra Invite back in September.
Carl Gustavsson paced St. John's this weekend, winning all six matches he played. The reigning All-BIG EAST selection won three singles contests and teamed up with Danilo Raicevic to win a trio of matches in doubles play. The duo opened their weekend with a 6-4 win over NJIT's German Lopez and Oscar Callo von Platten before defeating Pranav Nemani and Aayush Bhat from Temple. The pair wrapped up their weekend with a victory against Delaware's Alexandre Gluck and Itamar Tapiro. Raicevic also picked up a win in singles play against NJIT's German Lopez.
Adam Groves and Ryota Kaneda picked up a pair of wins in doubles play together. Kaneda added two singles wins of his own while Groves won one contest in singles action.
Ignacio Vinas also impressed, going three-for-three in solo play and picking up a doubles win alongside Leonardo Mileikowsky, who had a single win as well. Lamar transfer Max Amling added three wins for the Johnnies, two on the singles court and one in doubles play alongside Armando Sotelo. The full results from the weekend are below.
The Johnnies will return to the court for their spring season in January.
