St. John’s to Face No. 14 Arizona

Red Storm and the Wildcats last met in 2020
Coming off a week that featured wins against Hofstra, Adelphi and Penn State, the St. John's men's tennis team will return to action tomorrow against No. 14 Arizona. First serve from the USTA National Tennis Center is set for 1 p.m.
With a win against the Wildcats, The Red Storm (8-1) would match last year's 9-1 start to the season.
Last Thursday, St. John's completed a doubleheader sweep over Hofstra, 4-0, and Adelphi, 5-1. The Johnnies completed their 3-0 week against Penn State on Saturday, blanking the Nittany Lions, 4-0.
Ryota Kaneda won all three singles matches he played last week and former BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Carl Gustavsson improved his singles record to 7-0 in 2024 with a 6-0, 6-4, victory on the No. 2 court against Penn State. Danilo Raicevic had an impressive week for the Red Storm, winning singles matches against the Panthers and Nittany Lions.
Arizona arrives to Queens as the No. 14 team in the country after a 4-1 start to the season. The Wildcats most recently dropped their first match of the season last Friday against San Diego. Arizona has wins over No. 24 Baylor and Miami so far in 2024.
The Wildcats are the first ITA top-25 opponent the Red Storm have faced since squaring off with Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. on Jan. 31, 2020, in the first and only meeting between the two programs.
Following tomorrow's match, St. John's will face off with Boston University on Saturday at Cunningham Park.
