Red Storm lead the all-time series against the Terriers, 5-0
The St. John's men's tennis team will take on Boston University on Saturday. First serve from Cunningham Park is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Saturday will mark the sixth all-time meeting between the Red Storm and the Terriers. The Johnnies have won all five of the previous contests. When the two squads met last season, St. John's earned a 5-2 victory. Carl Gustavsson and Ryota Kaneda each picked up wins in singles and doubles play.
The Red Storm (8-2) had won five straight before falling against No. 14 Arizona on Wednesday, 6-1. Kaneda tallied the only point in the match for St. John's, picking up a win in singles play on the No. 6 court over Sasha Rozin. Kaneda leads the Johnnies in singles wins this season with eight.
Gustavsson has also excelled in singles play, winning seven of the eight matches he has appeared in. Danilo Raicevic is a perfect 6-0 in singles competition this year.
In doubles play, former BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, Ignacio Vinas and Leon Petko have led the Johnnies, winning all six matches the pair has played.
Boston University enters Saturday's matchup having won five matches in a row. The Terriers sit at 6-2 so far this season, most recently earning a win over Bentley last Sunday, 6-1.
Following tomorrow's meeting with Boston University, the Red Storm will conclude its season-long six-game homestand on Feb. 23 against Drexel. First serve from the USTA National Tennis Center is set for 1 p.m.
