St. John’s Rallies to Take Down Georgetown, 5-2

The Red Storm has won seven matches in a row
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. John's men's tennis team came back from down 2-0 to defeat Georgetown, 5-2, in its regular season finale on Wednesday.
The Red Storm (19-4, 4-0 BIG EAST) dropped the team doubles point in Washington D.C., but rallied to win five singles matches to capture its seventh straight victory.
In doubles action, Martin Bugaj and Armando Sotelo defeated Jake Fellows and Arthur O'Sullivan, 6-2, on the No. 2 court for their eighth straight victory as a pair. Georgetown picked up victories on the No. 1 and 3 courts to claim the team point.
The Hoyas were victorious on the No. 1 singles court to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Francisco Bascon got the Johnnies on the board with a 6-4, 6-3 effort against O'Sullivan and Ryota Kaneda took down Kieran Foster, 6-2, 6-4, to tie the match at 2-2. The win was Kaneda's seventh in a row and 17th in singles play this season.
Carl Gustavsson gave the Red Storm a 3-2 lead on the No. 2 court with his 15th singles win of the year, defeating Zamaan Moledina, 7(7)-6(4), 6-2. On the No. 5 court, Sotelo, the reigning BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week, picked up his seventh consecutive victory, besting Adhvyte Sharma in a three-set battle, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.
Danilo Raicevic's 12th singles win of the year, a 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 triumph on the No. 6 court over Sahil Morey, finished off the 5-2 victory for the Johnnies.
With the victory, the Red Storm improves to 12-3 all-time against Georgetown and has won the last four meetings between the two programs.
St. John's finishes the regular season having won nine of its final 10 matches. The BIG EAST Tournament is scheduled to take place from April 18-22 at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C. Information regarding seeding, opponent and match times will be released at a later date.
