FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2024)– The St. John's men's golf program orchestrated a strong day to finish runner-up a historic edition of the Doc Gimmler, hosting the final round on the prestigious Bethpage State Park Black Course on Tuesday afternoon.
After sitting in seventh after the first 36 holes on Monday, the Johnnies skyrocketed up the leaderboard to take second place. The Red Storm recorded a 20-under, 864, over 54 holes. On the Black, the Johnnies carded a round-best 16-over, 300, on Tuesday. LIU took home the team tournament title.
The defending BIG EAST Individual Champion, Peicheng Chen took home the tournament crown shooting a 5-under, 206, over 54 holes. The senior recorded a tournament-best 1-over, 72, in the final round on the Black Course.

The medalist honor marks the fourth of Chen's career in Queens. During his decorated collegiate career he has previously captured wins at the MacDonald Cup (2022), Southern Invitational (2023) and BIG EAST Championship.
Freshman Joseph Dolezal impressed in his collegiate debut logging a cumulative total of 4-over, 215 to take seventh place. The Old Westbury, N.Y., native recorded a 2-over, 73, during Tuesday's final round shooting up the leaderboard 18 spots.
David Mlynek had the shot of the day recording a hole-in-one on the 170-yard par-3 third hole. The ace marked the first of the junior's tournament career. The Prague, Czech Republic native strung together a solid final round, logging a 3-over, 74 to end the tournament in the 34th place with a total card of 10-over, 221.
