St. John’s to Meet Xavier on Saturday

The Red Storm will take on the Musketeers at 2 p.m. in Cincinnati
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team will head to Cincinnati on Saturday to face Xavier at 2 p.m. inside the Cintas Center.
Saturday's contest will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Mike Schmaltz and Rich Hoyt on the call from the Queen City. Live Stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's (10-5, 0-4 BIG EAST) will seek to snap a four-game skid after Tuesday's 67-60 setback to DePaul at Carnesecca Arena. The Blue Demons put together a 26-12 fourth-quarter comeback on 83.3 percent shooting from the floor.
The Red Storm continued to be disruptive defensively on Tuesday, forcing DePaul into 17 turnovers, five of which were picked up by Lashae Dwyer. The Johnnies also held their opponent to under 70 points for the 13th time this season.
Dwyer finished in double-digits for the 10th straight game and for the 14th time in 15 contests on Tuesday. The senior checks in 10th in scoring (15.3) and 12th in field goal percentage (42.6%) in the BIG EAST heading into Saturday's contest.
The Toronto product has picked up 47 steals this season and is averaging 3.1 swipes per game. Both marks lead the conference and sit 15th in the nation.
Ber'Nyah Mayo and Kylie Lavelle joined Dwyer in double-figures on Tuesday night, marking the ninth time this season that three or more Johnnies have registered double-digit points.
Mayo led the Red Storm with 15 points on 50 percent field goal shooting (4-for-8) against DePaul. The Wilmington, Del., native has posted double-figure scoring efforts in seven of her last 10 outings.
Lavelle rang up 14 points and drained two baskets from beyond-the-arc against DePaul. The junior's 15 points mark the fifth time this season she registered a double-digit scoring line and her two makes from three-point land are the most she has made in a game this season.
St. John's and Xavier will square off for the 23rd time in the all-time series on Saturday afternoon. The Johnnies hold a 20-2 advantage in the series and will carry an 18-game winning streak into Cincinnati, dating back to the 2015-16 season. In their last four meetings, St. John's has won by 12 or more points.
The Musketeers will host the Red Storm with a 10-5 overall record and a 0-4 mark in the BIG EAST. Xavier is fresh off an 81-27 loss at the hand of No. 7 UConn in Storrs, Conn and has lost three straight games.

Loren Christie is in the midst of a breakout season and is averaging a team-best 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in BIG EAST play. The graduate student paces the conference and ranks 22nd in the country with 31 blocks at 2.1 per contest.
