The men and women each posted a win at the annual home tournament

QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's and women's fencing teams hosted the St. John's Invitational in Queens on Sunday.

The men won against Notre Dame, who won the tournament on both the men's and women's sides. The women's team picked up a win against Ohio State to open the invitational.

Freshman Darii Lukashenko led all Red Storm fencers with a 9-3 record in the men's saber. Jan Nowak tallied seven victories in the men's foil while Daniil Mazur totaled six triumphs in the men's epee.

On the women's side, Julia Cieslar notched an 8-4 mark in the women's saber to lead the squad. Antonina Lachman finished with five wins in the women's foil, while Nicole Feygin and Eva Galper each totaled six wins in the women's epee.

St. John's will be back in action on Feb. 2 when it participates in Wagner's Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational.
