Fencing Set to Compete at Wagner’s Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational

The Red Storm will head to Staten Island on Sunday
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's and women's fencing teams are set to compete at Wagner's Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational on Sunday.
The Red Storm will make the short trip to Staten Island, N.Y., to square off with Vassar, Columbia and Wagner in the program's second-to-last meet of the regular season.
The Johnnies last competed at their home competition, the St. John's Invitational, on Jan. 19. The men picked up a win against Notre Dame while the women secured a triumph over Ohio State in the program's annual home invitational.
At the St. John's Invitational, freshman Darii Lukashenko led all Red Storm fencers with a 9-3 record in the men's saber. In the men's foil, fellow freshman Jan Nowak notched seven victories while Daniil Mazur tallied six triumphs in the men's epee.
Julia Cieslar led on the women's side with eight victories in the saber. Nicole Feygin and Eva Galper each totaled six victories in the women's epee.
Following Sunday's competition, the Red Storm will look ahead to wrapping up regular-season competition in the City of Brotherly Love at the Temple Invitational on Feb. 23.
