The Red Storm won 11 matches in Princeton over the weekend.
PRINCETON, N.J. — The St. John's men's tennis team traveled down to Princeton, N.J. to compete at the ITA Northeast Regionals over the weekend.
The Red Storm won 11 matches across singles and doubles competition at the Princeton University Tennis Courts.
Armando Sotelo delivered an impressive performance over the weekend, earning four total victories, three of which came in singles play. In the second round of the qualification stage, Sotelo cruised past Penn State's David Lindsay with a commanding 7-6, 6-2 victory. In doubles play, he teamed up with Captain Adam Groves to secure a hard-fought 8-7 win over Delaware's Bezianis and Prat Turro.
Two St. John's doubles teams dazzled in Princeton, advancing to the Round of 16. The tandems of Mats Pottbecker and Sergej Zivkovic, along with Semen Agynskyy and Venedikt Tsirikidze, each delivered standout performances. Pottbecker and Zivkovic opened play with a convincing 8-2 win over Drexel's Guzman and Obrul, while Agynskyy and Tsirikidze matched their teammates' dominance, cruising past UPenn's Sandler and Graziani by the same 8-2 margin.
In the doubles Round of 64, the duo of Filip Paroulek and Simon Hegarty picked up an 8-6 victory for the Red Storm over the Delaware pair of Tollenaar and Robins. The full results from the weekend are below.
