St. John’s to Host No. 18/22 Oklahoma State for Wednesday Night Showdown

Red Storm to welcome first Big 12 opponent to Carnesecca Arena since Dec. 18, 2017
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team (3-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) will host No. 18/22 Oklahoma State (5-0, 0-0 Big 12) for a Wednesday night showdown at Carnesecca Arena.
Wednesday's marquee matchup in Queens will mark the first time the Red Storm will host a Big 12 opponent when it defeated Kansas, 65-53, in overtime at Carnesecca Arena on Dec. 18, 2017. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Johnny Gadamowitz and Matt Levine on the call. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.

The Red Storm is seeking its first ranked win since it outlasted then-No. 19/20 Marquette, 57-56, on Jan. 3, 2024 and its highest ranked victory since it shocked then-No. 4/5 UConn on Feb. 21, 2023, 69-64.
The Red Storm return to the hardwood for the second of its three-game homestand, its longest stretch of the 2025-26 campaign. On Friday, St. John's offense exploded in an 88-60 of rout over Yale. The Johnnies logged their highest scoring total since Feb. 6, 2022 and shot 58.3 percent from field goal range to cruise the program's 850th all-time victory in Queens. The Red Storm posted an impressive mark of 71.1 percent (27-38) from two-point range and added 50 points in the paint.
Brooke Moore went for a career-high 16 points against the Bulldogs. exceeding her previous personal best for the second time in just four games in Queens. The junior paces the team with 12.0 points per game and ranks 20th in NCAA Division I with 10 total blocks.
Junior college product Beautiful Waheed has recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring outings. The crafty guard shot 81.8% (9-11) from the field and 71.4% (5-7) from 3-point range during a 2-0 week for the Red Storm in wins over Yale and Quinnipiac. ASUN Freshman of the Year Sa'Mya Wyatt has registered 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds over her last two appearances.
Point guard Shaulana Wagner, who ranked fourth in the country logging 6.3 helpers per game while at Troy as emerged has a key distributor for the Red Storm offense. The graduate student currently leads the BIG EAST dishing out 5.3 assists per outing and is shooting 63.6% from field goal range.
Wednesday's contest will feature a battle of style and tempo, as the stifling St. John's defense ranks second in the BIG EAST in scoring defense allowing just 56.3 points per game. On the other side, Oklahoma State ranks second in the country in scoring averaging 105.6 points per game.
The Cowgirls have scored no fewer than 97 points during their first five games of the season, which took place over an eight-day span from Nov. 3-11. Oklahoma State has blown past its competition boast a 53.8 point margin of victory, good for fifth-best in NCAA Division I. On the glass, the squad has posted a rebounding margin of plus-26.8, which ranks second in the nation.
Oklahoma State has three players that have made 18 or more 3-pointers this season. Lena Girardi (20), Micah Gray (19) and Haleigh Timmer (18), which ranks top-three in the country and the Big 12, respectively. Gray leads the team averaging 18.2 points per game and will return to Carnesecca Arena after spending her sophomore season at Seton Hall in 2023-24.
