St. John’s Takes Thriller Over Creighton, 4-3

Leonardo Mileikowsky clinched the win to keep the Johnnies unbeaten in 2025
OMAHA, NEB. – The St. John's men's tennis team continued its undefeated start to the 2025 season with a thrilling 4-3 come-from-behind victory against Creighton on Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
The Johnnies (9-0, 3-0 BIG EAST) dropped the team doubles point but rallied in singles play to continue their best start since 2021.
In doubles action, Adam Groves and Ryota Kaneda improved to 8-0 as a pair this season, taking down Zachary Kuo and Kirtan Patel, 7-5, on the No. 3 court. The Bluejays earned wins on the No. 1 and 2 courts to claim the team point.
When the scene transitioned to solo play, the Johnnies picked up four wins to finish off the comeback. Kaneda evened the score at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph on the No. 6 court over Ethan Neil for his second win of the afternoon. Danilo Raicevic picked up a point for the Johnnies, besting Patel in straight sets on the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-4.
Groves' second triumph of the day and first singles win of the year, a 7-5, 6-2 decision over Rockey McKenzie on the No. 5 court, put the Red Storm on the brink of victory with its third point of the afternoon. Creighton got victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, setting up a winner-take-all contest on the No. 3 court between Leonardo Mileikowsky and Kuo. The Bluejays took the first set, 5-7, but Mileikowsky responded, taking the second and third stanza, 6-2, 6-3, winning the match for the Red Storm.
The Johnnies will stay in Nebraska to take on Omaha tomorrow, with first serve set for 10 a.m. E.T. at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
