No. 70 St. John’s Prepares to Face Brown on Friday

The Johnnies are 10-0 for the first time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 20, 2025) – Following a pair of wins in the Cornhusker State against Creighton and Omaha last weekend, the St. John's men's tennis team will return to Queens to host Brown on Friday morning. First serve from Cunningham Park is set for 11 a.m.
With the two wins last weekend, the Johnnies are 10-0 for the first time in program history.
The Red Storm opened the weekend with a 4-3 triumph over BIG EAST foe Creighton on Friday, improving to 3-0 in conference play in 2025. On Saturday, the Johnnies ran past Omaha, 6-1, to cap off the perfect weekend out west.
In doubles action, Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves have been perfect this season, winning all nine of the contests they have played as a pair. The duo went 2-0 in the Johnnies' two triumphs over the weekend. Kaneda has also been superb in solo play earning a spotless 8-0 record through the team's 10 matches this spring.
Leonardo Mileikowsky and Ignacio Vinas have also impressed in singles action, each holding an undefeated 6-0 record. Mileikowsky was previously tabbed the BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week. Sophomores Marco Cinotti and Armando Sotelo are a combined 5-0, while Danilo Raicevic has won all three of the contests he has played. Max Amling is 5-1 to start his first campaign in Queens.
The Bears come to Queens 9-4 this season, coming off a 4-2 triumph over Delaware on Sunday. James Lian and Alex Finkelstein lead Brown in solo play, each entering Friday's match with a 7-1 record. Noah Hernandez has five wins, while Alexander Bravo and Tony Luo have each been victorious four times in dual match play his season.
In doubles play, Hernandez and Lau are 5-1 as a duo this season, with all three wins coming on the No. 3 court. Finkelstein and Bravo are 5-3 on the No. 1 doubles court.
Friday will be the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Brown holding a 6-3 advantage in the series. When the teams last squared off in 2023, the Johnnies earned a 5-2 victory on the road.
Following the contests against the Bears, St. John's will travel west, taking on Northern Arizona on March 6 and Arizona on March 7.
