St. John’s to Welcome Seton Hall on Sunday for Pink Game

QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's basketball team will host Seton Hall at Carnesecca Arena on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
Sunday's BIG EAST matchup will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Johnny Gadamowitz and Edona Thaqi on the call from Queens, N.Y. Live Stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.

St. John's (14-12, 4-11 BIG EAST) will look to bounce back after falling to No. 23/23 Creighton, 65-62, inside D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, Neb., on Wednesday night. The Red Storm led by five heading into the final quarter in a back-and-forth battle that featured 13 lead changes and six ties. A 7-0 scoring run from the Bluejays proved to be the difference in the contest. All five of the Johnnies' starters accounted for the team's 62 points.
Five-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection Lashae Dwyer delivered an 18-point performance, shooting 8-for-16 from the floor on Wednesday. The Miami transfer is averaging 19.5 points per game over her last two appearances.
Dwyer recorded three steals against Creighton to move into 10th place all-time in program history with 77 steals on the year, surpassing Aliyyah Handford's mark of 76 during the 2024-15 campaign. The senior's 77 steals and 3.0 swipes per game lead the BIG EAST and sit 12th and 14th in the nation, respectively.
Jailah Donald filled up the box score against the Bluejays, totaling 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, tying a personal best with seven rebounds, four assists and a career-high four steals. Kylie Lavelle put forth a solid effort, logging 14 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting mark, while pulling down six rebounds. Skye Owen was the fourth Red Storm player to finish in double-digits tacking on 10 points.
The Red Storm shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line against the Bluejays, marking the first time the Johnnies have shot at a 100 percent clip from the line since they went 9-for-9, taking down Butler, 65-57, on Dec. 2, 2022. On the season, the squad ranks 33rd in the country in free throw percentage, making 76.7 percent of its free shots.
The Johnnies continued to play solid defense against Creighton and currently ranks 24th in NCAA Division I in scoring defense, limiting its opponents to 55.9 points per outing. Additionally, St. John's locked down the 3-point line on Wednesday, holding the Bluejays to just 29.6 percent shooting from beyond-the-arc. The team ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in 3-point defense, holding teams to just 30.6 percent from long-range this year.
St. John's and Seton Hall will renew its storied rivalry for the 91st time on Sunday evening. The Johnnies hold a 51-39 advantage in the all-time series between the two programs, including a 28-12 record inside Carnesecca Arena.
