No. 66 St. John’s To Host Doubleheader Against Adelphi and Boston University

The Johnnies are 11-0 for the first time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 27, 2025) – Off to its best start in program history, the No. 66 St. John's men's tennis team will return to action on Friday for a doubleheader against Adelphi and Boston University at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve against the Panthers is set for 10 a.m., while the match with the Terriers will begin at 1 p.m.
The Red Storm (11-0, 3-0 BIG EAST) took down Brown at Cunningham Park in Queens last Friday, 6-1.
Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves improved to 10-0 as a pair in partner play this season, while Armando Sotelo and Max Amling got their second victory as a duo in 2025. Leonardo Mileikowsky and Ignacio Vinas have also impressed in doubles action, winning five contests together so far this season.
In solo play, the Johnnies have been led by Kaneda and Mileikowsky, who are a perfect 9-0 and 7-0, respectively. St. John's has also gotten impressive performances from Amling and Vinas who are each 6-1 this season. All seven of Amling's solo contests have come on the No. 1 singles court. Danilo Raicevic and Carl Gustavsson each have four victories, while sophomore Marco Cinotti is 3-0.
Adelphi makes the short trip to Queens 4-1 this season in DII play, most recently earning a convincing 4-1 win at home against Assumption. The Panthers also have victories against Farmingdale, Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire in dual-match play this season.
Reece Farrow and Hugo Munoz Reinoso have led Adelphi in doubles action, winning all eight of the matches they have played together. Marko Jovanovic has six triumphs in solo play, while Viktor Hockl and Reinoso each have five.
Friday will be just the second all-time meeting between the Johnnies and Panthers, with the only previous matchup coming on Feb. 8 of last season, resulting in a 5-1 St. John's win.
Boston University is 0-3 in dual match play, most recently falling on the road to Dartmouth last Sunday, 7-0. Adrian Pawlowki and Gustavs Dambins lead the Terriers with a 2-0 doubles record.
St. John's is a perfect 6-0 all-time against Boston U., squeaking out a 4-3 triumph in the most recent meeting on Feb. 17, 2024.
Following Friday's twin-billing, St. John's will head west for a pair of matches against Northern Arizona and No. 9 Arizona on March 6 and 7.
