St. John’s Makes Quick Work of Marquette, 4-0

The Johnnies move to 7-0 for the first time since 2021
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The St. John's men's tennis team opened BIG EAST play with a 4-0 sweep over Marquette on Friday morning in West Point, N.Y.
The Johnnies' ninth straight win over the Golden Eagles and fifth consecutive sweep improved their record to 7-0 this season, the program's best start since 2021.
St. John's dominated their BIG EAST rivals from the jump, decisively claiming the team doubles point before making quick work of the Golden Eagles in singles play to finish off the win.
Adam Groves and Ryota Kaneda improved to 6-0 this season in partner play with a quick 6-2 performance on the No. 3 court over Kristian Blagoev and Evan Glebov. The Johnnies took the team point after Carl Gustavsson and Max Amling teamed up at No. 1 doubles to take down Blake Roegner and Cyrus Ahmad, 6-3, giving the Red Storm a 1-0 lead.
Reigning BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Leonardo Mileikowsky continued his red-hot start to the 2025 season, shutting out Koji Heineman at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0. The senior is still undefeated at 6-0 in singles play this year.
Up 2-0, Max Amling picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over Blake Roegner to make it 3-0. Sam Edgar's third triumph of the season, a 6-0, 7-5 triumph over Blagoev on the No. 3 court, closed out the Red Storm's seventh win of the campaign.
St. John's returns to action tomorrow morning in West Point, N.Y., to face Georgetown. First serve is set for 8 a.m.
