QUEENS, N.Y. – Off to its best start in program history, the No. 74 St. John's men's tennis team will head west for a pair of matches against Northern Arizona and No. 8 Arizona to kick off the month of March. The Johnnies will face the Lumberjacks on Thursday at 1 p.m. (ET) in Tucson, Ariz., before taking on the nationally-ranked Wildcats on Friday at noon.
The Red Storm (13-0, 3-0 BIG EAST) are coming off a doubleheader sweep last Friday against Adelphi, 7-0, and Boston University, 7-0.
Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves have paced the Johnnies in doubles action, earning an 11-0 record so far this season as a duo. Leonardo MIleikowsky and Ignacio Vinas have also impressed when paired up, going 6-1 in dual-match play in 2025.
In solo play, the Johnnies have been led by Kaneda and Mileikowsky, who are a perfect 10-0 and 8-0, respectively. St. John's has also received impressive performances from Amling, who is 8-1, and Vinas, who has won seven of his eight contests. All seven of Amling's solo contests have come on the No. 1 singles court. Danilo Raicevic and Carl Gustavsson each have five victories, while sophomore Marco Cinotti is 4-0.
Northern Arizona is 6-4 this season and 1-0 in Big Sky play, most recently taking down conference-foe Portland State on Saturday in Oregon, 5-2. The Lumberjacks have won three straight entering Thursday's meeting with the Johnnies. Jakub Parchar and Dani Torres are 4-0 in doubles play, while Prachar's 7-3 solo mark leads Northern Arizona.
Wednesday will mark the first all-time meeting between the Lumberjacks and the Red Storm.
