No. 62 St. John’s Sweeps Elon, 4-0; Runs Winning Streak to Seven

QUEENS, N.Y. (April 11, 2025) – The No. 62 St. John's men's tennis team prepared for this week's BIG EAST Tournament with a 4-0 sweep over Elon University on Tuesday, marking the squad's seventh consecutive win.
The Red Storm (22-2, 4-0 BIG EAST) picked up four wins in singles play to earn the sweep over the Phoenix in a conference tournament tuneup for both squads. No doubles matches were played.
Max Amling picked up a straight-set victory at the top spot, outlasting Rafael Ymer, 6-4, 7-5, to set the tone for the day.
Carl Gustavsson continued his stellar play with a three-set win over Veljko Krstic on the No. 2 court, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. At the No. 4 position, Leonardo Mileikowsky secured a 6-4, 6-2 win against Jack Curtis, while Ryota Kaneda clinched the team victory on the No. 6 court, taking down Charles Pilet, 6-3, 7-5.
The Red Storm enter Friday's BIG EAST quarterfinals as the top seed in the tournament and will face No. 8 Villanova at 12:45 p.m. at the Cayce Tennis Center.
