St. John’s Falls to Georgetown on Senior Day

Four Johnnies recorded multi-point games
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's lacrosse team fell to No. 17/17 Georgetown, 21-8, on Saturday at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium.
The Johnnies (4-10, 0-4 BIG EAST) trailed 12-2 at the intermission and were unable to rally in the second, suffering defeat to the Hoyas on Senior Day.
St. John's held a pregame moment of silence on Saturday, honoring longtime superfan Derek "DJ" Sutherland, who tragically passed away yesterday.
Adrian Nowak led the Red Storm offensively with his ninth multipoint game of the season, going for two goals and a helper against the Hoyas. On the season, Nowak is second on the team with 40 points on 22 goals and 18 assists.
Senior attackman Brian Kelly extended his team-best point streak to 17 games with a one-goal, one-assist performance against the Hoyas. Kelly's 57 points, 34 goals and 23 helpers are all career bests.
Drew Wasserman went for multiple points for the third time this season, tallying a goal and an assist, while Bobby Seel found the back of the net for the 22nd time this season. Seel has points in 29 of the Red Storm's last 30 games.
Senior captain Sean Rice recorded the first two points of his St. John's career, scoring a goal and dishing an assist against the Hoyas.
Freshmen Ryan Ormond and Jayson Cardenas each had a point on Saturday. Ormond dished the fifth assist of his young career, while Cardenas hit twine for the 16th time of 2025.
Defensively, Quinn Falasca caused a team-best three caused turnovers, giving him a team-best 24 on the season.
In the cage, Patrick Scarborough made 17 saves, marking his 10th consecutive game with double-digit saves.
The Hoyas came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, scoring the game's first 11 goals. Adrian Nowak got the Johnnies on the board, finishing a feed from Ormond at the top of the crease. After another Georgetown score, Koban bounced a runner past Anderson to make it 12-2 at the half.
The Johnnies began the third period on the man-up after a Georgetown penalty late in the second quarter. Seel converted the power-play off a Wasserman feed just 16 seconds into the period, before Cardenas scored 90 seconds later, bringing St. John's within eight, 12-4. After two more tallies from the visitors, Kelly ripped a shot into the twine off a pass from Campbell. Georgetown went on another run, scoring four straight to go up 18-6 at the end of the third quarter.
Nowak recorded his second goal of the afternoon early in the fourth before Rice finished Kelly's feed. Rice got his second point of the afternoon, earning the assist on Wasserman's goal in the final minute. Georgetown scored four times in the final frame to wrap up the 21-8 victory.
The Red Storm will head up I-95 next Friday when it wraps up its regular season against Providence. Faceoff from Chappey Field is set for 7 p.m.
