QUEENS, N.Y.– Five Johnnies, who embody the excellence and standout character of Red Storm student-athletes will be welcome welcomed as members of the prestigious St. John's University President's Society on Saturday.
Brianna Cristello (dance) and Harry Noel (lacrosse), Ludovica Zola of volleyball and Leilani Robinson and Ezgi Yasar of track & field were among those who will be inducted into the University's highest honor society.
The athletic department has two outgoing members of the President's Society in Giorgia Walther (Volleyball) and Malia Jones (Track & Field).
Founded in 1968, the President's Society honors those students who combine scholarship, integrity, maturity and a well-rounded personality with University-wide awareness, participation and leadership, demonstrated by their significant contributions to the academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular life of St. John's University. Members of the President's Society are ambassadors who support the President at various events and functions.
Throughout the academic year, beginning in April 2025, members will be designated special assignments at various University events and functions. As members, students are entitled to wear the official insignia of the Society, in the form of a medal and a pin.
Cristello has made an impact for the Red Storm not only on the court but in the classroom, boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her three years in Queens. The junior has participated in National Girls and Women in Sports Day and has been a part of the University's Move-In Day Team.
Noel has made a tremendous impact on both on the field and in the local community during his time in Queens. The three-year lacrosse starter has worked closely with Team IMPACT, an organization that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved. The Nashville, Tenn., native has also volunteered for organizations such as Liz's Day and the St. John's Bread and Life program.
A three-year member of the Red Storm's track & field team, Robinson has flourished at St. John's while working to complete her degree in marketing. The Bronx, N.Y., native has also assisted in community service efforts with the Ocean Breeze Community Youth Program and the Calvary's Mission Food Pantry while participating in local church service in the Queens community. In addition, the mid-distance runner has notched personal-best efforts in the indoor 800-meter run and the outdoor 400-meter dash, throughout the 2024-25 track & field season.
A standout for both the St. John's cross country and track & field teams across her three years in Queens, Yasar has been an engaging member of the Queens community, working alongside the Ocean Breeze Community Youth Program and the Calvary's Mission Food Pantry. A native of Turkey, the distance runner aided in relief efforts in her home country through the Turkish Embassy Earthquake Relief Operation. With the organization, Yasar assisted the embassy with gathering and packing goods to support the victims of the major 2023 earthquake.
Zola has played an instrumental role for both the St. John's volleyball team and her local community during her time in Queens. The three-year volleyball starter has worked with the Plunge Program, a week-long service trip focused on enriching participants' understanding of social justice and spirituality. The Milan, Italy product has also contributed to community service efforts with organizations such as Riseboro Recreation Volleyball and Midnight Run.
