11 Johnnies Named to the All-BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Team

The Red Storm found the podium in 12 events
NEW YORK – After a third-place finish at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend, the St. John's track & field team had 11 members selected to the All-BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Team, as announced by the conference on Friday morning.
With its 11 All-BIG EAST selections this season, the Red Storm has now earned 10 or more nods for the second consecutive year. Last season, the Johnnies put 10 members on the all-conference outdoor team.
Jamora Alves lands on the outdoor All-BIG EAST Track & Field Team for the third time in her career, after earning a gold medal in the discus and a silver medal in the shot put. In the discus, the junior produced a heave of 54.30 meters for first place. The Grenada native also registered a second-place effort of 15.24 meters in the shot put at the league championships. The standout was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet for the second time in her career, at the conclusion of the event, last Saturday.
Danella Dawkins notched her first outdoor all-conference team selection and her second all-league selection in total after medaling in the 100-meter hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay. In the 100-meter hurdles, the graduate student tallied a second-place finish on a season-best time of 14.04 seconds.
Nora Haugen received her third All-BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Team honor after posting a third-place finish in the 800-meter run. The Norway native garnered a bronze medal after pacing the event in a season-best 2:04.44. The junior also earned a gold medal in the 4x400-meter relay.
Jalen Jackson received her first-ever outdoor all-conference team selection with a third-place result in the 200-meter dash. In the event, Jackson registered a time of 24.36 seconds for a bronze medal.
Cassandra Lemus-Sodji received the second outdoor all-conference selection of her career after medaling in the long jump, 100-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay. The junior won the long jump with a personal-record 6.02-meter leap. In the 100-meter dash, the Seattle, Wash., product came in third with a personal record finishing time of 11.76 seconds.
Chinenye Onuorah earned her third outdoor All-BIG EAST accolade after placing second in the 400-meter dash and first in the 4x400-meter relay. The junior garnered a silver medal after registering a personal-record 52.90-second finishing time in the 400 meters.
Linn Hertz busted onto the scene during the outdoor season, notching her first-ever All-BIG EAST accolade after finishing on the podium in high jump, long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, Hertz kicked off her weekend by notching a bronze medal on a season-best 5.94-meter leap. The next day, she claimed bronze medals in the high jump and triple jump on marks of 1.65 meters and 12.37 meters, respectively.
The Red Storm's 4x400-meter relay squad of Djassi Dean, Onuorah, Leilani Robinson and Haugen dominated the 4x400-meter relay in 3:35.50 to earn their spots on the All-BIG EAST Team. Dean and Robinson found themselves on the outdoor all-conference team for the first time in their careers.
The Johnnies' 4x100-meter relay team of Dawkins, Lemus-Sodji, Karese Lloyd and Ava Spencer posted a time of 46.11 seconds for third place and bronze medals. The All-BIG EAST honor for Lloyd and Spencer marks the first of their Red Storm tenures.
