St. John’s Welcomes New Hampshire for Home Opener

Red Storm will play five of its next six games at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's soccer team (1-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) will welcome New Hampshire (0-1-1, 0-0 America East) for its home opener on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Since the venue opened in 2002, St. John's is 139-50-41 (.697) inside Belson Stadium and are 14-4-4 (.727) in home openers during that time frame. In 34 completed seasons under Dr. Dave Masur, St. John's is 24-4-6 in its initial contest in Queens.
The Red Storm is coming off its first setback of the 2025 campaign falling at then-No. 23 Hofstra on Long Island, 2-0, on Sunday night. The Pride tallied a pair of goals just 3:06 apart in the opening 11 minutes and while the Red Storm recorded seven of the game's last 11 shots the home side held on for a victory at Captains Field.
Last Thursday, the Johnnies began the season with a 1-0 triumph over Temple on the road courtesy of a game-winner from Xavi Abeijon in the 85th minute at the Temple Soccer Complex. Alec McLachlan recorded his 15th career clean sheet in the winning effort.
10 different players have recorded shot attempts for the Johnnies through two games led by freshman Andrew Porucznik whose recorded five on the year.
New Hampshire arrives in Queens with a 0-1-1 record in the early-going of the 2025 campaign. The Wildcats played both their first two matches at home falling to Boston University and drew Colgate in its last time out, 0-0.
UNH has qualified for seven of the last eight NCAA Tournaments and were predicted to finish second in the America East Preseason poll. Mattéo Brossel and Max Voigt were tabbed to the conference's preseason team.
Thursday will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Following Thursday's home opener, St. John's will make the trek to face a top-five opponent in No. 5 Wake Forest on Sunday night at 7 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C.
