St. John’s to Host Marquette on Wednesday Night on Peacock

The Red Storm will host Y2K Night for 8 p.m. tip-off at Carnesecca Arena
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team will host Marquette to kick off a two-game homestand on Wednesday night in Carnesecca Arena at 8 p.m.
Wednesday's contest will be streamed on Peacock with Ed Cohen and Meghan McKeown on the call from Queens.

In their latest contest, St. John's (15-5, 5-4 BIG EAST) edged out Xavier, 66-64, in a thrilling last-second victory at the Cintas Center. The Johnnies were exceptional at the free-throw line, knocking down 19 of 20 attempts (95.0%), their best showing from the stripe this season.
The matchup seesawed throughout the night in Cincinnati, featuring 14 lead changes and nine ties. Trailing by four with 1:49 remaining, the Red Storm got a crucial three-pointer from Jailah Donald, setting the stage for Shaulana Wagner's game-winning fadeaway with 1.3 seconds left. With the victory, the Johnnies extended their winning streak over the Musketeers to 21 games.
Sophomore Sa'Mya Wyatt led the way with a career-high 28 points to propel St. John's to the win. The forward stuffed the stat sheet with six rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal, shooting an efficient 66.7% (10-of-15) from the field while going a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc and 6-of-6 at the line.
Wyatt had a standout week in conference play, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Jan. 19), after averaging 16.0 points and 9.5 rebounds on 55% shooting while going perfect from three-point range and the free-throw line. Powder Springs, Ga., native was a steady presence in both games, matching her career high with 13 rebounds at Georgetown (Jan. 13),
Through 20 games, the Red Storm have established themselves as a defensive force. The Johnnies lead the BIG EAST and rank 23rd nationally in blocked shots, averaging 5.0 per game. Brooke Moore and Beautiful Waheed anchor the rim protection, with Moore averaging 1.3 blocks per contest and Waheed close behind at 1.2.
Graduate student guard Wagner continues to rank among the nation's top playmakers, standing 47th nationally and leading the BIG EAST with an average of 5.1 assists per game.

The Golden Eagles hold a 23–14 advantage in the all-time series, though the Johnnies have won three of the last five match-ups.
