St. John’s to Travel to Creighton for Midweek Matchup

The Red Storm and Bluejays meet for the second time this season, 31st time in history
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off a convincing win over Villanova on Saturday, the St. John's women's basketball team will travel to Omaha to take on Creighton on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Saturday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Rob Simms and Josh Peterson on the call from D.J. Sokol Arena.
In their most recent outing, St. John's (16-6, 6-5 BIG EAST) picked up its first win over Villanova since Dec. 16, 2023, taking a 71-58 victory on Saturday afternoon in Carnesecca Arena. The Red Storm were efficient offensively, shooting 51.0 percent (26-51) from the field, while limiting Villanova to a season-low 29.2% (19-65). St. John's also dominated the boards, 40-27, and capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 16 of 18 attempts (88.9%) at the charity stripe.
Brooke Moore led all scorers with 20 points, marking her fifth career 20-point performance of the season. The junior shot 77.8 percent (7-of-9) from the floor and was perfect from the line, going 6-for-6.
Three other Johnnies finished in double figures: Beautiful Waheed (12), Shaulana Wagner (11) and Sa'Mya Wyatt (10). Waheed led the team with nine rebounds, while Wagner and Moore each pulled down eight.
Moore, was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season, fourth conference weekly recognition, on Jan. 26. She led St. John's in scoring both games this week, averaging 18.0 points on 68.4 percent shooting while going a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line in home contests against Marquette and Villanova. The Kennesaw, Ga., native scored 16 points with a well-rounded stat line against Marquette before posting 20 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in the 71–58 win over Villanova. On the season, Moore leads the team with 13.3 points per game on 55.5 percent shooting, adding 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, with 15 double-digit outings and five 20-plus point performances.
Through 22 games, the Red Storm have made its mark on the defensive end. St. John's leads the BIG EAST and ranks 19th nationally in blocked shots, averaging 5.1 per game.
Graduate student guard Wagner continues to rank among the nation's top playmakers, standing 38th nationally and leading the BIG EAST with an average of 5.0 assists per game.

Earlier this season, St. John's fell at home to Creighton, 60-52, on Dec. 4 with three players scoring in double figures. The Bluejays opened 2026 with a 2-5 record, most recently falling to DePaul on the road a 76-61 home win over Butler on Jan. 18. Creighton is now 8-11 overall and 4-7 in BIG EAST play and are currently sitting in seventh in conference standings.
