St. John’s to Host Butler for Girl Scout Day at Carnesecca Arena

The Johnnies have won nine of their last 10 meetings at Carnesecca Arena
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team will return home to Carnesecca Arena to host Butler at 2 p.m.
Saturday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Maria Marino and Tykera Carter on the call from Queens.

The Red Storm (13-4, 3-3 BIG EAST) is 1-1 to start the New Year. In its last time out, St. John's fell to No. 1/1 UConn, 88-43, at PeoplesBank Arena. Junior guard Beautiful Waheed paced the team with 14 points, matching her highest mark in league play and scoring in double figures for the third consecutive game. The Red Storm dominated the boards, holding a 28–15 rebounding advantage over the Huskies on Wednesday night. The Johnnies limited UConn to a season-low in rebounds and became just the third team this year to win the battle on the glass. Daniela Abies led all players with six rebounds.
Through 17 games, the Red Storm have showcased an efficient offensive attack, shooting 47.2% from the field, good for second in the BIG EAST and 22nd nationally. Junior guard Brooke Moore leads the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game while converting at an impressive 56.7% clip from the floor. The Kennesaw, Ga., native also ranks second in the conference and 44th in NCAA Division I with 65 makes at the line.
Graduate student guard Shaulana Wagner remains one of the nation's premier distributors, sitting 35th nationally and atop the BIG EAST, averaging 5.2 assists per contest.

The Red Storm hold an 18–5 advantage in the all-time series and have nine of the last 10 meetings. In the most recent matchup, St. John's earned a 66–50 victory over Butler in the first round of the 2024–25 BIG EAST Tournament. Skye Owen led the way with 13 points, shooting 6-of-10 (60%) from the field, while recording a season-high five steals.
Butler comes into the contest riding a three-game skid and owns a 7–9 overall record, including a 1–5 mark in BIG EAST play during the 2025–26 season. The Bulldogs last saw action on Jan. 7, falling to conference foe Georgetown, 63–46, in Indianapolis.
Lily Seinstra paces Butler with averages of 9.4 points and 3.0 assists per game, while also contributing 3.1 rebounds and 0.9 steals. Saniya Jackson follows closely behind at 9.2 points per contest and leads the team defensively with 1.9 steals per game, a mark that ranks eighth in the conference.
