The Red Storm wrap up the regular season next week in Staten Island
BOSTON – The St. John's track and field team completed its Boston road trip at the David Hemery Valentine Invite at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Red Storm continued to flex its muscle in the field events, placing five student-athletes in the top 10 of four different events.
Jamora Alves accounted for two top-10 finishes. The Guyana native claimed third in the shot put with a throw of 15.15m (49 feet, 8.5 inches) and sixth in the weight throw with a season-best toss of 16.86m (55 feet, 3.75 inches), just two centimeters off her lifetime best. The senior's mark currently sits third in the BIG EAST.
In the high jump, Ashley Sadler and Linn Hertz Saebbo finished in the top five. Sadler placed third after clearing a 1.70m (5 feet, 7 inches) bar on her final attempt. Hertz Saebbo made her season debut in the event, clearing a 1.65m (5 feet, 5 inches) bar on her final attempt to place fifth.
Rounding out the top-five finishes was Fia Viklund, who leapt to third place in the triple jump. The senior recorded a mark of 12.34m (40 feet, 6 inches) on her final attempt down the runway.
On the track, Cassandra Lemus-Sodji continued her streak of making every 60-meter dash final during the 2026 indoor campaign. The Seattle, Washington, native ran a time of 7.72 seconds in the preliminary heats to make the final.
Naiara Garcia Moreno came away with a personal best in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2 minutes, 5.96 seconds and cutting nearly three seconds off her previous mark. The time currently sits fourth in the conference, behind teammate Nora Haugen. Haugen also raced in the half mile at BU, stopping the clock in 2:06.35.
In the sprints, Nyla Henderson ran to a personal best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.46. Jalen Jackson also sprinted to an indoor personal best in the 200-meter dash. The senior completed the one-lap race in 24.55 seconds.
St. John's is back in action next weekend for its final regular-season competition of the indoor season at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
