St. John’s hosts the Panthers at 9 a.m and the Bearcats at Noon on Wednesday
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's tennis team will take on Adelphi (0-0) and Binghamton (3-4, 1-0 NEC) in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Johnnies will open the day against the Panthers at 9 a.m., before turning around to face the Bearcats at 12 p.m. Both matches will be played at the USTA National Tennis Center.
On Feb. 7, the Red Storm traveled to Ithaca, where the squad dropped the contest to Cornell to put their 2026 record at 3-1.
Adelphi returns to Queens for the third consecutive season, with Dillon Pottish's squad having claimed each of the previous two meetings between the programs. Wednesday's contest will mark the Panthers' season opener for the 2026 campaign.
Under head coach Rebecca Fakas, Adelphi is coming off a 17-6 season that included a Northeast-10 Championship and carried that momentum into the fall, posting an impressive 5-1 record. The Panthers will look to secure their first season-opening victory since 2022.
St. John's and Binghamton will meet for the 11th time since 2005, with Wednesday's matchup marking the second consecutive season the programs have squared off. In last year's meeting, the Johnnies traveled north and secured a dominant 6-1 victory over the Bearcats. The duo of Danilo Raicevic and Adam Groves cruised in their respective doubles matches to secure the team point, before St. John's claimed all but one contest in singles play to seal the win.
Binghamton enters Wednesday's matchup with a 3-4 overall record and is coming off a 5-2 victory over Stonehill in its conference opener on Sunday. The Bearcats are led by Ronin Lotlikar, a 2025 NEC First Team selection in both singles and doubles.
The senior made program history against Stonehill, recording his 72nd career doubles victory to tie the program's all-time record.
St. John's will return just two days later, when they are set to face VCU on Feb. 20 at the USTA National Tennis Center. First-serve is set for 11 a.m.
