St. John’s Set For Two Match Slate this Weekend

Red Storm will host VCU before visiting UPenn
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Red Storm men's tennis team is set to host VCU at Cunningham Park before traveling to Philadelphia to face Penn at the Hamlin/Hecht Tennis Centers. First serve in Queens is scheduled for 11 a.m., while Saturday's match in at Penn is slated for 1 p.m.
St. John's has opened the 2026 campaign with a 5-1 record, most recently earning victories over Adelphi (5-1) and Binghamton (7-0) in a Wednesday doubleheader. Semen Agynskyy and Adam Groves paced the Johnnies with perfect 3-0 records on the day, including a victory together on the No. 3 doubles court.
VCU will make its first-ever trip to Queens, with the previous three meetings between the programs taking place in Richmond, Va., dating back to 2012. The Rams hold a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series, with St. John's last victory coming in a 4-3 decision in 2015. The two sides last met on March 2, 2025, when VCU narrowly defeated the Red Storm.
The Rams enter the match with a 4-3 overall record, including a 2-0 mark in Atlantic-10 play under Head Coach Dimi Kutrovsky.
