St. John’s to Host Seton Hall for Play 4 Kay Pink Game

The Red Storm have won four of their last five home contests
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team will wrap up its two game homestand against Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The team will host its annual Pink Game, in support of the Play4Kay Foundation.

The Play4Kay Foundation, an organization united in the fight against all cancers affecting Women. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free pink shirt courtesy of Main Street Radiology.
Prior to Saturday's contest, the St. John's Athletic Department will host a NGWSD Clinic with several members of all Red Storm women's sports teams. Tickets to the clinic and game can be purchased here.
In their most recent outing, St. John's (18-7, 8-6 BIG EAST) surged past Xavier at Carnesecca Arena, 71-52. The Red Storm used a dominant 42–22 second half to earn their 22nd consecutive win over the Musketeers. The Johnnies shot 51.4 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from three, and 90.9 percent from the line over the final 20 minutes.
Defense fueled the victory, converting 10 steals into an 18–2 advantage in points off turnovers, while four players scored in double figures. Beautiful Waheed and Brooke Moore led the way with 14 points apiece. Moore and Jailah Donald dished out five assists each, leading to 18 team assists. Sa'Mya Wyatt added 13 points and four rebounds, and Donald chipped in 10 points. Waheed led all players with four steals.
Daniela Abies was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season earlier this week. The redshirt junior averaged 11.0 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 57.1% from the field and 85.7% at the free-throw line during a split week for the Red Storm.
Through 25 games, the Red Storm have established themselves as a defensive force. St. John's leads the BIG EAST and ranks 23rd nationally in blocked shots, averaging 5.0 per game, while Moore sits fifth in the conference with 1.3 blocks per contest.
St. John's and Seton Hall (15-7, 9-4 BIG EAST) will meet for the 92nd time Saturday afternoon, continuing a series that began on Jan. 21, 1976. The Red Storm lead the all-time series 51–40 and hold a 26-14 edge over the Pirates at home. In the last match-up, Seton Hall outlasted St. John's, 66-57 at Carnesecca Arena on Feb. 23, 2025. Three Johnnies reached double digits with Kylie Lavelle netting 10 points, three boards, an assist and a block.
Most recently, the Pirates suffered their third conference loss of the season, falling 72–66 to Creighton at home on Feb. 1. Seton Hall's only other BIG EAST defeats came against No. 1/1 UConn on Jan. 3 and Jan. 24. The Pirates later snapped a four-game losing streak with a 63–59 home victory over Butler on Feb. 1, highlighted by three players scoring in double figures, led by Jordana Cordio's 20-point performance.
Savannah Catalon tops the conference and ranks 22nd nationally at the free-throw line, shooting 89.0%, while also averaging 33.6 minutes per game, second most in the league, and 3.0 steals per contest, which ranks second in the BIG EAST and 20th in the nation. Mariana Valenzuela is shooting 50.2% from the field, good for third in the conference.
As a team, Seton Hall leads the league with 37.7 rebounds per game. The Pirates rank third in the BIG EAST and 23rd nationally at the charity stripe, converting 77.3 percent of its free throws.
